Gwinnett County Sheriff Candidates- The Rest of the Story

In a previous article, we expressed our opinion that Lou Solis was the best candidate for Gwinnett County sheriff. Now we have, “the rest of the story”, which concerns his opponent.

Part of our evaluation of candidates for public office includes researching both their personal and political history. Personal history is an important aspect because it tells much about a candidate’s character. We found nothing negative about Lou Solis. As for his opponent, “Keybo” Taylor, what we found is deeply disturbing. A history of non-payment of bills, having numerous lawsuits and tax liens filed against him, makes him in our opinion, unqualified to serve as county sheriff.

“Keybo’s” formal name is Johnathan K. Taylor, and when we looked at Gwinnett County court records, we found a disturbing number of entries that show what appears to be a history of not paying legitimate bills.

In 2011, The Meadow Trace Homeowners Association sued for unpaid HOA fees and won (case number 11-C-06789-S2).

In 2012, FIA Card Services sued Taylor for $19,692.14 and won a judgment. (case number 12-C-00738-S4).

In 2013, Discover Bank filed a small claims action against Johnathan K. Taylor, dismissed after payment made (case number 13-M-12357)

In 2013, the National Collegiate Student Loan Trust filed a lawsuit against Taylor and won a judgment (case no. 13-C-07632-S5)

But wait, there’s more-

In 2010, Georgia Department of Revenue filed a tax lien against Johnathan K. Taylor

In 2011, Georgia Department of Revenue filed a tax lien against Johnathan K. Taylor

In 2012, Georgia Department of Revenue filed a tax lien against Johnathan K. Taylor

In 2013, Georgia Department of Revenue filed a tax lien against Johnathan K. Taylor

In 2014, Georgia Department of Revenue filed a tax lien against Johnathan K. Taylor

In 2015, Georgia Department of Revenue filed a tax lien against Johnathan K. Taylor

In 2016, Georgia Department of Revenue filed a tax lien against Johnathan K. Taylor

In 2017, Georgia Department of Revenue filed a tax lien against Johnathan K. Taylor

In 2018, Georgia Department of Revenue filed a tax lien against Johnathan K. Taylor

In 2019, Georgia Department of Revenue filed a tax lien against Johnathan K. Taylor

Considering that the Gwinnett County Sheriff has authority over the department’s spending, and budget, the thought of Taylor being in charge of sheriff’s office spending, should scare county taxpayers. If he doesn’t handle his personal finances without being repeatedly sued or having tax liens filed against him, it seems apparent that would act just as irresponsibly when spending county funds.

  1. How did he qualify to run for Sheriff? He still owes taxes, which means he’s lied on the candidate affidavit!

  2. I’m tired of the democrat party running such awful candidates, another do what I say not what I do. Is he going to have a deputy serve him the next tax lien? I don’t care if Lou is a Republican, his staff respect him and he’ll be the first Hispanic Sheriff.

  3. It is unbelievable that this guy beat the other Democrat candidates. But I guess that is what we get these days. The bottom of the barrel.
