On Christmas Day, a SWAT team (Special Weapons and Tactics) arrived at the house of Georgia State Senator Clint Dixon. Neither Dixon nor anyone else in the house had done anything to require a visit by SWAT. They paid a visit to the Dixon house because someone had dialed 9-1-1 and reported shots fired at that location. The tactic of calling in false reports of shots fired or other activities that would normally call for a SWAT response is known as “swatting”.
The next day, SWAT again arrived at Dixon’s house, the result of a second false report of shots fired. Dixon responded on social media stating, “It’s unfortunate how far some will stoop to target others. Thankfully my family and I are safe and we appreciate our local law enforcement. These threats will not stop me from serving the people of this great state. I plan to address this issue in our next legislative session. This isn’t a right or left issue. It’s an issue of public safety and those who participate in swatting should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
The home of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green was also”swatted” for the 8th time this year. According to Josh McCoon, Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party,
“As many of us celebrated Christmas with our families, Republican elected officials were being targeted by left wing lunatics via a practice known as “swatting”. This practice involves making false reports to 911 in the hopes of causing the target at a minimum distress and possible injury or death due to the legitimate law enforcement response to an emergency call.
While Republicans across America are subjected to perversion of the criminal justice system, arrested and charged with crimes for having the wrong political views, left wingers are allowed to break the law with impunity, even when they endanger the lives of federal and state elected officials.
We also encourage our legislators to consider giving the Attorney General greater jurisdiction to handle prosecution of these crimes, as we have no confidence that the woke District Attorneys in Fulton, Cobb, or Gwinnett will bother to prosecute the offenders when they are brought to justice.”
Most calls to 9-1-1 falsely reporting shots fired or other emergencies that warrant a SWAT response are made anonymously or placed from phones that can’t be traced, so finding and prosecuting the left wing lunatics who make such calls will be difficult. But there are ways…
I had not heard of this until today. Seems like an awful lot of detective work must be done to research the source phone number of any 911 call. Some validation needs to be done before manpower is assigned to a dispatch call.
