DORAVILLE, GA — A Paulding County man is recovering in a local hospital with serious injuries after being shot last week during a road rage incident at a Doraville recycling center, according to a media report. James Gilliland, 59, a truck driver from Dallas, was shot in the abdomen after he hit another driver with a crowbar, according to witnesses and video, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The dispute broke out Friday, Feb. 8, at Metro Green Recycling, on Pleasantdale Road in Gwinnett County. Gilliland got into an argument with Jamarsa Williams, 31, of Atlanta, and it escalated when Gilliland grabbed a crowbar from his truck and began hitting Williams, according to a Gwinnett police spokeswoman.

Williams then went to his car, got a gun and shot Gilliland, the AJC reported.

Despite being wounded, Gilliland was able to get back in his truck and move it a short distance, off of a vehicle scale, the police said.

As Gilliland waited for an ambulance, Williams put his firearm on the hood of his car and waited for the police to arrive.

He was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault. Gilliland also may face charges, the AJC reported.
