ROME GA: 2 tuberculosis cases reported at Floyd County elementary schools

ROME, Ga. (AP) – Officials say tuberculosis cases have been reported at two elementary schools in Georgia.

The Floyd County School District tells News outlets that one case of TB was confirmed

at Model Elementary, and another at Johnson Elementary. Both schools in Rome remain open and are being cleaned.

A statement on the district’s website says the risk is low of contractingthe infectious bacterial disease that mainly affects the lungs.

Dr. Unini Odama is director of the Northwest District of state the Public Health Department. She says officials are confident that actions being taken are protecting people.
