Helpful COVID-19 Information

While checking out Facebook today, we came across the information on the Joe Profit for Congress 6th District page. It’s refreshing to see someone running for office putting their campaign aside and sending out potentially life saving information.

COVID-19 Challenges

The coronavirus referred to as COVID-19 is especially challenging:

*much about it is unknown

*its impact on individuals ranges from no symptoms to death.

What is widely known about COVID-19 is:

85% of people who are infected have no symptoms or light symptoms- and that these people are the most dangerous because they are unsuspected spreaders of the virus.

The average incubation period ranges from 2 to 14 days with the average being 5 days.

Once symptoms appear, you should stay isolated for at least 7 days.

After symptoms are no longer present, you should stay isolated for 3 days after ceasing all virus-related medications.

(The recommendation is 7 days from symptoms appearing or 3 days after symptoms are gone, whichever is longer.)

COVID-19 is spread primarily through respiratory droplets released into the air when someone coughs of sneezes, BUT-

The droplets can linger in the air for up to 3 hours and can also be released when someone talks. Consequently, if you don’t maintain at least 6 feet of separation, you can be exposed to the virus be simply speaking with someone who is infected.

Tylenol is the preferred drug for treating virus symptoms. Use of ibuprofen is not recommended because it can lower fever which provides the false impression that a fever no longer exists.

Across the state of Georgia, approximately 30% of confirmed cases require hospitalization.

Test results currently take 7 to 9 days to be returned because labs are overloaded and test reagents are in short supply.
