ATLANTA: Hotel valet targeted by masked carjackers in Buckhead

 – A pair of masked gunmen carjacked a vehicle out of a Buckhead hotel valet lot early Thursday morning.

Police said around 1 a.m. Thursday morning, a guest pulled in at the Doubletree, located in the 3300 block of Peachtree Road. The valet took the keys from the guest, who then went inside the hotel.  As the valet moved the car around in the lot, investigators said two masked gunmen approached.  When the valet got out of the guest’s gray 2018 Dodge Challenger, the armed carjackers demanded he turn over the keys. They were last seen driving down Peachtree.

Police are calling this a senseless crime of opportunity, and think the carjackers likely waited for the right time to hit. Investigators said it appears the gunmen were on foot before they stole the car, which has Tennessee plates reading 3H1P7.

The Doubletree doesn’t have surveillance cameras covering the valet lot, but police said with so many other hotels and restaurants in the area, they are hoping to find a camera that captured the crooks either before or after the crime took place.
