LOGANVILLE, GA – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation continues its investigation into the circumstances surrounding a law enforcement shooting that occurred Tuesday in Walton County.

Hasani Romario Paisley, 19, of Loganville, remains hospitalized in stable condition at a nearby medical facility. Paisley is in custody pending formal charges to be taken by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.

Tuesday, at approximately 3:29 p.m., Paisley was observed in the roadway of Highway 81 in Loganville by a uniformed Walton County Deputy Sheriff on routine patrol. Preliminary information at this time indicates that the deputy turned his vehicle around and activated his blue lights in an attempt to instruct Paisley to step off the busy roadway, according to a GBI press release.

Police said witnesses reported seeing Paisley jogging away from the deputy. The deputy ordered Paisley to stop and a foot chase ensued, the release said.

During this chase, the deputy transmitted over the radio to his dispatch center that Paisley was
armed with a firearm, according to the GBI. Shortly after that radio contact, the deputy fired his service weapon.

Paisley was struck by the deputy’s gunfire. A firearm was recovered during a search of the area.
The deputy has been placed on administrative leave with pay which is the normal protocol of
the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, the release said.
