Winter storm brings snow, ice to northeast Georgia

 – Light snow and a wintry mix continues to fall across the higher elevations of the north Georgia mountains this Monday morning. Snow and ice covered parts of the northeast Georgia after a winter storm moved into the area Saturday night into Sunday. That same system dumped a cold, steady rain across metro Atlanta below the freeze line prompting some Flood Warnings along various waterways.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Rabun, Habersham, White, Lumpkin, Towns, Union and Dawson counties until noon on Monday. A Winter Weather Advisory continues in other counties in the region, including Hall, Banks, Fannin, Gilmer and Pickens counties. That advisory also expires at Noon Monday. A half-inch of snow is possible in those areas overnight.
