Atlanta United celebration parade to be held Monday

 – Atlanta United fans are already claiming their spots for Monday morning’s parade, celebrating the team’s championship win on Saturday. Festivities begin at 10 a.m.!

Now, no one is saying to call in sick to work Monday to attend a parade, but how often does an Atlanta professional sports team win a national championship? It’s been 23 years, so don’t bother looking it up.

Atlanta United has attracted hundreds of thousands across metro Atlanta to come out and support them the past two seasons. Saturday’s MLS Cup at Mercedes-Benz Stadium was filled with 73,000 people, mostly supporters of The Five Stripes.

That sea of red, black, and gold is taking a day off to rest Sunday because Monday, the party is back on in downtown Atlanta.

The open-top bus parade steps off at 10 a.m. at the corner of Baker Street and Peachtree Street next to SunTrust Plaza. They will head down Baker Street, Marietta Street, and Andrew Young International Boulevard, ending at the Home Depot Backyard adjacent to their home stadium.

At noon, a special celebration and ceremony will be held.

Supporters are asked to come out and line the sidewalks, be “Rowdy and Proud,” and be loud one last time for Atlanta United!
